The rights were now the publisher's, and the majority of the royalties were going to the publisher. That's when Tate set out to redefine what a mainline royalty publisher should be. Remember, the most important step to get started is to submit your manuscript. In 2010, we accepted only a single-digit percentage of authors who submitted manuscripts for publication.

 As part of our expanding business projects and undertakings, we are currently looking for highly competent individuals to fill in our vacant position as:

ACQUISITIONS EDITOR

Acquisitions Editor is responsible for making outbound calls to authors. Before a book is signed, acquisitions editors must learn what readers will buy. The AEs job is not done until the book starts to sell. Acquisitions Editor is to hunt down author of books that will be big sellers. Their main role is to acquire manuscripts. He/she must know how to sort books, read proposals that were sent in and evaluate in order to identify the manuscript that Tate should pursue.

Job requirements: 

• This position requires completion of a minimum of two years in college or completion of any four year college degree.
• Must have good sales experience, excellent written and oral English skill, and be able to think quickly and outside the box- rather than work from a script.
• At least 1 year outbound sales experience is required.
• This position requires excellent English communication and comprehension skills.
• Experience in an administrative, office work is an advantage.
• Must have excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
• The Acquisitions editor is responsible for making outbound calls to authors and artists.
