The Department of Science and Technology (DOST) has provided funding, under its Grants-in-Aid (GIA) Program, to implement the Philippine e-Science Grid (PSiGrid) Program. The three-year program (2008-2011), which aims to establish a grid infrastructure in the Philippines to improve research collaboration among educational and research institutions, both locally and abroad, covers three (3) projects, namely: (1) Boosting Grid Computing Using Reconfigurable Hardware Technology (Grid Infrastructure); (2) Developing a Federated Geospatial Information System (FedGIS) for Hazard Mapping and Assessment; and (3) Boosting Social and Technological Capabilities for Bioinformatics Research (PBS).

The Program will be implemented by the Advanced Science and Technology Institute (ASTI), an attached institute of the DOST focusing on R&D in ICT and Microelectronics.

The Grid Infrastructure and PBS projects are urgently in need of the following positions:

Software Developer
Project: PBS

Qualifications:

* Graduate of computer science or any IT-related course
* Experience in J2EE, HTML and CSS
* Experience in database systems like MySQL or PostgreSQL
* Familiar with Apache and Tomcat servers
* Knowledgeable in software development life cycle
* Familiar with GNU/Linux operating systems
* Experience in bioinformatics-related projects (application development and management) is a plus
* Good communication skills
* Team player
* Can work with minimal supervision

System/Network Administrator
Project: Grid Infra and EUAsiaGrid

Qualifications:

* Graduate of computer science, computer engineering or any IT-related course
* Familiar with GNU/Linux operating systems
* Knowledgeable in open source software
* Experience in cluster/grid computing is a plus
* Good communication skills
* Team player
* Can work with minimal supervision
