CHS Faculty Neil Martin keynotes 7th聽International Emergency Nursing Camp in Indonesia; nursing student wins award

College of Health Sciences (CHS) faculty Dr. Neil M. Martin of the Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology (王中王六合彩特码-IIT) was recently a keynote speaker during the 7th International Emergency Nursing Camp (7thIENC) and seminar from 19 to 21 July, held at the Amphitheater E6 K.H. Ibrahim Building, Universitas Muhammadiyah Yogyakarta (UMY) and Rama Shinta Camping Ground Prambanan in Yogyakarta, Indonesia.

The three-day event hosted by UMY started out with the opening ceremonies on Friday morning with Martin presenting his material entitled “Holistic Disaster Care: Respecting Cultural and Religious Practices” along with two other speakers, Ns Al Afik, M.Kep, a lecturer of UMY presenting “Building Resilience and Responses in the wake of a Disaster”, and Ns. Arcellia Farosyah Putri, S.Kep., M.Sc., Ph.D, AFHEA, an Emergency Nurse at RSUPN Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo, Indonesia with “Triage and Treatment: Roles of Nurses in Disaster Response”, and the introduction of Tor Tagana – Disaster Kitchen activity in the afternoon held at the Rama Shinta Camp Ground.

The second and third day of the event were both days of lectures and practice held at the Rama Shinta Camp Ground, with the second day covering Basic Life Support by Dr. Nurchayati, Ns., M.Kep, Bandage Splint by Basarnas DIY, Evacuation by Indra Prasetyantoro, Ns., S.Kep, and Triage by Puspito Warno, Ns., M.Kep. The third day were about Incident Command System (ICS) by Dr. Tri Yunanto Arlino, Sp. EM and Vertical Rescue and Horizontal Rescue by SAR DIY.

This year’s event had the theme "Compassionate Crisis Response: Integrating Spiritual Principles in Disaster Management" and had a minimum of 100 participants which included participants from Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Among the participants from the Philippines were two 王中王六合彩特码-IIT CHS incoming Level 4 BSN students, Adrajie Ramos Dida-agun and Bhylle Gayle Pacina. During the closing ceremonies Dida-agun was awarded the Top 1 in the BLS written exam among the 20 international participants.

Organized by the Nursing Care Club Emergency of Muhammadiyah University of Yogyakarta, an organization engaged in emergency care, the IENC is an annual program held for students and health practitioners which presents various activities and interesting material in accordance with current trends and issues, and direct practice supervised by competent instructors as well as training participants' soft skills through the integration of spiritual principles in disaster management.
