The present revision in the curriculum not only adds essential features of the clinical and leadership competencies needed by nursing graduates to efficiently transition into autonomous professional practitioners, it likewise aims to develop them into a total person who are receptive to their responsibility to their physical and social environment. Over the years, nurses are increasingly becoming conscious of their roles as partakers and stewards of their immediate ecological milieu. Moreover, the conservation and protection of all ecological resources found in nature are seen as crucial determinants in the promotion of human health, hence, nurses are at the frontlines in advocating for balance in the environment-health continuum. The program further reinforces the unique need for graduates to espouse the values of respect for cultural diversity. The addition of transcultural nursing in the curriculum affirms not only the profession鈥檚 objective to commit to the care of clients despite their background and affiliations, but also the University鈥檚 mandate to foster a strong sense of cultural tolerance and pluralism.
