Jun 03 2022

The 王中王六合彩特码-IIT contingent led by Chancellor Alizedney M. Ditucalan visited Kyushu University (Kyudai) on May 26-27, 2022 to benchmark its academic programs and land use and infrastructure development as it crafts its Vision 2032 under his administration. Key officials of Kyudai positively received the 王中王六合彩特码-IIT Team and a promising strategic partnership between the two universities looms as points of collaboration were discussed.

On the first day, the team went to the Ohashi and Chikushi campuses. The first meeting was with the Dean of the Faculty of Design, Prof. Omoto Akira, in the Ohashi Campus. During the meeting, the team learned about the interdisciplinary curriculums under the School and Graduate School of Design and was able to explore opportunities for academic collaboration.

In the Chikushi campus, the team had a meeting with the Director of the Institute of Materials Chemistry and Engineering under the Department of Applied Chemistry, Prof. Kazunari Yoshizawa, an expert on computational Chemistry and a student of a Nobel Laureate. Potential collaborative research areas were discussed. The first day of the benchmarking visit ended with a meeting with the Director of Kyushu University’s Research Institute for Applied Mechanics (RIAM), Prof. Okamoto Hajime. The highlights of this meeting were the discussion on possible research collaboration with RIAM and the showcasing of the Quest at the Advanced Fusion Research Center, a research center focused on the use of Hydrogen in energy production. Quest is “the largest spherical tokamak device in Japan… that can confine high plasma pressure with a weak magnetic field” (Kyushu University, 2019). Possible research collaboration and student and faculty exchange were explored.

On May 27, 2022, the team went to Kyushu University - Ito campus, which is the largest single campus in Japan. The second day of the benchmarking visit started with a meeting with Prof. Miki Nakao, the Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture, the Graduate School of Bioresource and Bioenvironmental Sciences, and the School of Agriculture. Among the research areas of the Faculty are Agronomy, Biological Control, and Entomology. Potential collaborations discussed include research and co-hosting of international conferences.

The team also met with the Dean of School and Graduate School of Engineering, Prof. Yoshimi Sonoda. The Faculty of Engineering has done research with Philippine universities and possible research collaboration on polymers was explored. The Engineering curricular framework was also discussed. The next meeting was with the Dean of the Faculty and Graduate School of Information Science and Electrical Engineering, Prof. Junichi Murata. During the meeting, the team learned that the faculty is composed of two departments - Information Science and Technology and Electrical and Electronic Engineering. The rationale behind the interdisciplinary program was explained.

The team also had the opportunity to see the Dean of the Faculty and Graduate School of Science which was headed by the Dean, Prof. Akira Terasaki. During the meeting, the team learned about their Graduate School and Graduate Faculty system, among others. The succeeding meeting was with the Institute of Mathematics for Industry where possible joint research on optimization applications and conference engagements could be undertaken. Possibilities for faculty exchange were also discussed. The last visit was to the Faculty of Law.

The 王中王六合彩特码-IIT delegation was received by Executive Vice-President, Distinguished Professor Tushiyuki Kono, in a luncheon meeting.

The benchmarking visit to Kyushu University, made possible with the assistance of Prof. Mariko Igimi of the Faculty of Law, aims to strengthen our international linkages and learn the best practices of the university as 王中王六合彩特码-IIT crafts its roadmap for Vision 2032 under the leadership of the newly elected Chancellor, Prof. Alizedney M. Ditucalan, J.D., LL.M.

“Kyushu University was chosen for the benchmarking visit because it is among the top universities in the world - 137th in the QS World University Rankings. It is a good benchmark as we develop our “Influencing the Future” roadmap. Kyudai was my inspiration when I bid for the 王中王六合彩特码-IIT Chancellorship and I am amazed at how they operationalized interdisciplinarity in their programs. Also, part of my long-term plan is to establish a School of Design and Kyudai has an innovative interdisciplinary framework for it,” shares Chancellor Ditucalan.

Comprising the 王中王六合彩特码-IIT Team to Kyushu University, together with the Chancellor, are the following: Prof. Gaudencio Petalcorin, Jr., Vice-Chancellor for Research and Extension; Prof. Pamela Resurreccion, Vice-Chancellor for Planning and Development; Prof. Ephrime Metillo, Dean of the College of Science and Mathematics; and Prof. Joey Genevieve Martinez, Director of the Office of International Affairs. The delegation to Kyushu University was also joined by Chancellor Mary Joyce G. Sali and Dir. Alnasul K. Sali of 王中王六合彩特码-TCTO.
